Renault is working to bring a sports Alpine road at the end of 2016, and could soon get a new concept.
AD SURPRISE – According to rumors, with some surprise the members of the board of directors of Renault, at its last meeting, they heard President Carlos Ghosn confirm the Alpine program. Namely the creation of a high-performance sports with the historical brand of the French.
MANY PROBLEMS – The project has encountered several obstacles in his way since its announcement in 2012. The first were the financial difficulties of the Caterham, with which Renault had created a joint association, who then left the joint venture. The second was the passage of Carlos Tavares, biggest supporter of the revival of the Alpine, the PSA Peugeot Citroën. The third, and most “occult”, is a market that has moved toward SUVs and crossover and is not very receptive to the sport, especially if you have a brand rather than affirmed.
A LOT OF MONEY – Now new rumors coming from France confirmed that the project is alive and well and it seems that Renault has allocated to it the beauty of 600 million. The first fruit of the new Alpine, which has the important task of raising the image and increase the profitability of the French, will be a mid-engined sports from 250-300 hp that should be on the market at the end of 2016. There is already talk of a second model that could be an inevitable crossover.
MAYBE IN LE MANS – And according to it says the new car could be called Alpine A120, the A110 as the rightful heir of the 60 that came to win a world championship rally. It seems that a new concept Alpine A110-50 after 2012 that marked the beginning of the troubled adventure (in the photo), will be presented the weekend of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, scheduled on 13 and 14 June.
