New Honda S660, mid-engined roadster From Japan
New Honda S660 – Overview
A mid-engined roadster less than 4 m long? The new Honda S660 shares some similarities with Alfa Romeo 4C. But is much cheaper, much less powerful.
With its central rear engine, microscopic roadster, sold in the 1990s, is almost akin to a mini NSX. The new Honda S660 clearly follows the same path … to the extent that it is probable that France either deprived of this new sport. This two-seater discoverable indeed belongs to the category of kei cars, small cars in Japan tax advantage provided their length does not exceed 3.40 m and their cylinder capacity not exceeding 660 cm3. Hence the name, which also address a nod to the famous S600, S800 and S2000.
Other roadster comply with this regulation, the Daihatsu Copen tried their luck in Europe, up to receive a specific engine for the occasion. Without knowing the success, which is unlikely to encourage Honda to launch. The other small convertibles failure, as the Renault Wind, also does not advocate an official import. Too bad, because the line of this stocky S660 has remained faithful to the promises of the homonymous Design at the Tokyo Motor Show 2013. Just like its architecture, since the small turbocharged block remains mounted behind the passengers, as on the Porsche Boxster, the Alfa Romeo 4C … or the new NSX. Most fans can always try the complex and costly adventure importation insulated title … provided you agree also that the steering wheel is installed on the right.
