2015 Mazda Cx-3 Review ; Beautiful Compact Crossover
Only six copies made available to the European press for what was the first contact with the Mazda Cx-3. A compact crossover, which we admired in Geneva and also in Spanish land has been appreciated for its design, certainly succeeded, always riding on that philosophy dubbed Kodo, of which the Japanese are proud.
And the Mazda Cx-3 is beautiful, no matter what may be the personal tastes. Will arrive in Italy in mid-May, and also strong overall quality of a tangible, both in the assembly that nursing the car in more detail, is preparing to challenge competitors like Fiat 500x, the Opel Mokka, the Renault Capture or the Peugeot 2008, to name a few. The list can not say anything. Only merely hypothesize figures similar to those represented by the average cost turnkey rivals. So around 23-24000 euro and then grow with versions and composition more expensive. And speaking of versions we tried around Barcelona, the 2.0 petrol acitve Sky-G available with the system of energy recovery i-ELOOP. It is a 4-cylinder direct injection 150 hp, with 204 Nm of torque, which features all-wheel drive and 6-speed manual transmission.
A brilliant engine, backed by a change to the occasion, which runs under the house 15.6 km / liter on average emissions of 150 g / km of CO2. Wishing there is also a 2.0-liter, 120 horsepower, front-wheel drive and 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Finally, the 1.5-liter diesel, although we were able to get to know. It is a unit of diesel 105 hp with 270 Nm of torque from 1600 rev / min, baptized SkyActive-D. In the version with front wheel drive and 6-speed manual gearbox is credited with 25 km / liter on average, in the integral with automatic transmission (6-speed always) the km / liter drop to 19.2. Not a thunderbolt of war, in the sense that to get some ideas spirited must use the first four reports, with the fifth and sixth decidedly “long” also in order to limit consumption. As for the all-wheel drive, provides for everything her. In the sense that it is an “intelligent” system, with a coupling to active control that distributes the traction on each of the four wheels according to the conditions of adhesion.
Inside the cabin is full of “minimalism”, with a design of the dashboard essential but pleasant, even at the level of materials used. In this regard there are three compartment configurations: Future Cross, Cross Performance Mode and Cross Edgy Mode. Too bad for the habitability, not great in terms of space for rear passengers. And also in terms of load capacity with all occupants on board do not you go over the 350 liters declared. Wishing there is also the Active Driving Display, which projects the various information on the windshield. With the 7 “display (tablet style) located in the middle of the dashboard at the top you have several functions, including the connection with your smartphone, very much essential. Everything is managed via a joystick on the center console. Among the various app also offers “Aha”, for the various social networks and remote monitoring of the vehicle.
Pleasant also the instrumentation, but far too small the digital tachometer. Among the safety features Blind Spot Monitoring (check the blind spot source of many accidents) and the Rear Vehicle Monitoring which together with the Mazda Radar Cruise Control monitors what happens behind the vehicle. As for the browser, all necessary updates are free for a period of three years.
